Cherry Tattoo
2025

Cherry Tattoo is a hand-drawn temporary tattoo shop founded for people who want the look of ink without the needle. The goal was to move away from the "temporary tattoo" stereotype and position the stickers as genuine fashion accessories—items you’d keep in your jewelry box next to your rings and watches.

In a Nutshell

Temporary tattoos often come across as inexpensive, plastic-like items for kids. Cherry Tattoo needed to change that stereotype, establishing itself as a brand that genuinely resonates with street fashion—something enjoyable and accessible to all while still elevating our personal styles.

The branding is grounded in Artsy Street Fashion, taking cues from the effortless, youthful vibe of the early 2000s. My design approach aimed to strike a harmony between the unrefined spirit of street culture and a more refined presentation.

By opting for a hand-drawn aesthetic over mass-produced, "plastic-y" elements, Cherry Tattoo's branding demonstrates that accessibility can still convey quality. The outcome is a high-quality, human-led identity that elevates the product from a mere toy to a coveted accessory.

The Logo

Inspired by the cut-and-paste aesthetic of Cartoon Network, I placed bold, irregular red letters on tiles to create a collage-like effect that echoes the physical act of applying a sticker.

Refine Irregularity

I tailored the Barriecito font to embody its whimsical, hand-drawn charm, highlighting Cherry’s focus on individuality and self-expression over mass-market perfection.

The Human Bit

To uphold brand authenticity and honor the craft, every tattoo design is created by hand to replicate the subtle irregularities of actual ink, distancing itself from the "plastic-y" appearance typical of mass-produced stickers.

Application

The brand system is incorporated into Cherry Tattoo's packaging and online presence. The copywriting and visuals treat the temporary tattoos as jewelry staples. Cherry Tattoo is not selling toys; Cherry Tattoo is selling a way to curate our self-image through art that moves with us.
